The Parish of St Mary and St Wilfrid in Bishop Auckland is part of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. Committed to serving the local community, we work closely with other churches and organisations—both Catholic and non-Catholic—to provide support, faith, and fellowship to those in need.

Community

Our parish is dedicated to supporting and nurturing the local community, from our strong links with local Catholic schools to pastoral care for the sick and housebound. We also work alongside neighbouring churches to strengthen our shared faith and service.

Foodbank Donations

Our parish actively supports the local foodbank, working alongside other Christian churches to help families in crisis. Through the generosity of our community, we provide essential food supplies to those in need. Donations are always welcome and can be dropped off at the church before or after services. Every contribution makes a difference.

“Let us not grow tired of knocking at God's door. Let us go to the heart of God through Mary, our whole life, every day, knocking at the door of God's heart! Mary prays - prays together with the community of disciples, and teaches us to have full faith in God, in his mercy. This is the power of prayer!”

— Pope Francis
